Experienced Headteachers' Pathway: Reconnected

A course for those who have previously attended the experienced Heads' Pathway and want to reconnect with the path they were on and maybe others they travelled with.

Don't just take our word for it...

... this is what previous participants have fed back to us

'The Pathway was a really valuable time to connect with colleagues from a diverse range of schools, to be away from school, to gain the breathing space for bigger picture thoughts, and to reflect - something which unfortunately in the day to day is often pushed to the bottom of the list.  There was a lot of wisdom in the room, as well as vulnerability and non judgmental support - it's been a bit of a termly oasis!  Since attending, I've tried to slow down and be a bit kinder to myself: basically to try and follow the advice we've all been giving each other without doing ourselves!  Small school headship can be lonely, this was a valuable social opportunity with people who 'get it'.'

'I would describe this pathway as an essential part of CPD for a school leader. Against a backdrop of NPQs which are often content and context focused this course provides the opportunity to reflect upon yourself and your practice as a leader in manageable but purposeful chunks. I would highly recommend this course to anyone seeking leadership within a school setting.'

'I didn't really know what to expect, having been badgered into attending by someone who clearly knew how much I needed it! However, I can honestly say that my wellbeing has transformed throughout the year. The pathway has enabled me to look at work/life balance and see that what was in existence wasn't healthy. Through that reflective process and real soul searching, I have been able to prioritise myself and my family, and in turn, this has lead to me being happier, healthier in mind and body, refreshed in the role, able to deal with challenge more rationally - the list goes on. But without doubt, my mental health and well being is transformed - is this all because of the pathway...no probably not. However, it has absolutely come from the push for me to reflect and evaluate what my priorities are/should be and then my commitment to make necessary changes. And for that, I can only say...thank you!'

'The Pathway has helped me to reflect as a leader - given me lots to think about and practical things to take back into school as a leader. I honestly feel that having the time the reflect and direction to the readings/videos and discussions has given me the courage to deal with challenging issues and realise I can't do everything! In the long-term I think it will help me to avoid burn out and let me enjoy the career that I love so much to the fullness. The guidance from Simone and Darren has been second to none and I have met colleagues who I would like to keep in touch with and turn to for advice when needed.'

'Having the time to reflect has had such a positive impact on my practice and the way I deal with the job.'
