Stress Management for School Leaders

In the great myth, Ariadne brings Theseus a ball of thread with which he can orientate himself in the Labyrinth. The aim here is to develop a tool kit of our own, with which we can overcome the Minotaur of debilitating stress and achieve a more harmonious and sustainable working life.

Using the story of Theseus and the Minotaur, we look at how leaders can negotiate the labyrinth of their own job demands to achieve a fulfilling and manageable balance in their work and life.

  • Achieving our goals without building a culture in which we get over-stressed

  • Examining the physiological causes and responses to stress

  • Gaining awareness around our own individual triggers

  • Exercises to promote relaxation

Contender Charlie

We are delighted that this one day course will be led by the excellent leadership development experts, Contender Charlie.

With the weight of accountability, safeguarding responsibilities, parental expectations, and constant changes in the education system, it’s no surprise that school leaders can feel stretched to their limits. Often, it’s the most committed who feel it most—driven to give their all, yet left with little time to pause. This course offers a chance to step back, reflect, and explore practical ways to sustain your wellbeing and leadership in the face of ongoing demands.

Limited places

In recognition of the pressures facing school leaders, this day is offered at a subsidised rate—less than half the cost of a typical full-day course. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Leaders from schools not in the ESP will pay the full day, non-ESP rate of £295.
